"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not." - The Lorax
After graduating from Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!) in 1996 I began my teaching career in the Gull Lake Community School system as a 3rd grade teacher at Kellogg Elementary. After 8 enjoyable years with 3rd graders I finally passed the 3rd grade test and was allowed to move up (some of my previous students say it took me too long and that they did it in just one year)! I did so amazingly well on that test that I skipped 4th grade altogether! This unprecedented achievement was rewarded with my being assigned to Thomas M. Ryan Intermediate where I taught 5th grade for 5 years. In 2010, I undertook a new assignment, teaching 4th grade. (Maybe I didn't do as well as I thought on that 3rd grade test, huh?). Maybe my newest endeavor is due to that poor test taking? I am currently spreading my passion for technology within the classroom by helping other teachers integrate iPads, Macs, and Web tools in Gull Lake as an Instructional Technology Coach.
Aside from my daily routine of painstakingly tormenting students and teachers I enjoy spending time with my 10 year old son Lucas, my 5 year old son Jack, and my wife Sara (who is also is here at DENSI) who is also a teacher (although she teaches high school in a rival district). I enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, downhill skiing & snowboarding, geocaching, and cruising the curvy back-roads on my motorcycle. But most of all, I just love learning and playing around with any new tech I can get my hands on!
This will be a collection of all my images from DENSI 2014. Come back starting July 13 to see all the fun!
