TEACHING I taught Special Education, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade at Star Elementary for 21 years. Last year I moved to a new school (Barbara Morgan STEM Academy), and taught 1st Grade. It was the first year for our STEM School! It was a great year of learning and growing. I often felt like a 1st year teacher all over again! I learned so much about STEM, Project-based learning, and Inquiry learning this year. Next year I will be moving up to 2nd grade. I love to integrate digital learning into everything we do in class. Next year we will be 1:1 iPads in my classroom. I am excited to learn more from the brilliant group of DEN educators, and meet new friends!
Me! I love to spend time in the mountains with my family! We ride 4-wheelers, camp, fish, and hang out at the cabin. My entire family is a bunch of technology geeks! :) My hubby is a Worship Pastor and just finished his degree in Web Development. My son, Josh, is a web-developer. My amazing daughter-in-law is a teacher and will also be at DENSI in Nashville! My daughter, Julie, is in college working toward being an English Teacher. My son, Taylor, is a graphic designer working on his degree in Marketing and Advertising. My amazing 5-year-old grandson, Ande, will be starting Kindergarten this year!
Best DENSI Advice My best DENSI advice to new attendees is to embrace it all! You will be overwhelmed at times. Everyone involved with the DEN is incredible! They will help you, stretch you, support you, and inspire you. It will be a life-changing experience. Your new friends will become your extended family. Embrace every minute of the experience! You will draw upon the strength, knowledge, and friendships through the tough times, and want to share all of your life celebrations with your DEN friends first! Welcome to the family!
Never forget your inspiration! Children are the reason why we do what we do!
